Creative Tech Glasgow

About the Event
Creative Tech Glasgow
Glasgow has always been a city that builds things. Creative Tech Glasgow is the meeting point for the people who are building what comes next — at the intersection of technology, art, and industry.
This is a professional, hands-on meet-up for designers, developers, founders, and students who believe the most interesting work happens when creative instinct and technical skill collide. Whether you're shipping generative AI tools, pushing the boundaries of creative code, or prototyping immersive experiences — this is your room.
Over three focused hours, you'll move through curated sessions designed to get your hands dirty: building with generative AI tools, writing code that makes things you can see, and stepping into immersive tech that's reshaping what interaction means. No passive keynotes. No filler. Just practical, high-quality sessions with people who are genuinely invested in this space.
Every session is built to be accessible regardless of your discipline — you don't need to be a developer to contribute, and you don't need to be a designer to create. What you do need is curiosity and a willingness to make something in the room.
→ Expect to leave with something you made, someone new you've met, and at least one tool you hadn't used before.
Programme
3 Hours · 25 Seats · Glasgow
Hands-on all the way through. No passive keynotes — every session is built to get your hands dirty and leave you with something real.
12:00 pm — WELCOME + LIGHTNING DEMO SPRINT (20 min) Opening Showcase
Four 3-minute demos from local practitioners. No slides, no preamble — just real work from people in the room. Generative art, creative code, an XR prototype, and an AI-assisted workflow. We open by showing what's possible, then spend the rest of the evening making it.
Host intro and 4 × 3-min demos from Glasgow practitioners
12:20 pm — PROMPT TO PIXEL (50 min) Hands-On Workshop · Generative AI as a creative instrument
Working in cross-discipline groups of four, you'll respond to a shared creative brief — "Glasgow, Reconstructed" — using any AI-assisted tool available. Designer, developer, wildcard: the mix is the point. Facilitated share-back at the end unpacks process, not just output.
→ Cross-discipline groups — designer, developer, wildcard → Shared brief: "Glasgow, Reconstructed" — open to interpretation → 35 min making · 10 min share-back, one insight per team
Tools: Midjourney · RunwayML · Adobe Firefly · Sora · Claude API
13:10 pm — BREAK (15 min) Refreshments + informal networking.
13:25 pm — CODE AS CANVAS (50 min) Hands-On Workshop · Creative coding — the craft behind the image
A live-coded session led by a practitioner from the Glasgow digital arts scene. Watch a generative visual piece built from scratch, then build your own. No coding experience required — facilitators on hand throughout. Those with experience are encouraged to push further.
Tools: p5.js · TouchDesigner · Processing · Hydra · Three.js
14:15 — STEP INTO IT (30 min) Immersive Demo + Discussion · XR, spatial computing & what's real right now
Hands-on demo stations followed by a practitioner-led conversation on where immersive tech is actually landing in creative and commercial work. Rotate through the demos, then regroup for a rapid-fire discussion: what's hype, what's production-ready, and where the opportunities are.
Tools: WebXR / A-Frame · Unity · Spark AR · Apple Vision Pro · Spline
4:45 pm — SHOW, TELL & WHAT'S NEXT (15 min) Community Close
A tight, energetic finish. Any group that wants to show what they made gets 60 seconds — no slides, just the thing. Community board for jobs, projects, and calls for collaborators. Next date announced.
